Project Description
Our two clients on this project are both non-profit arts organizations. The Hell’s Half Mile Film and Music Festival brings indie films and up-and-coming music to Bay City every fall, while the State Theatre hosts screenings, concerts, and family events year-round. Both organizations were looking for another project, one whose profits could help support their other programs. They settled on teaming up to open a container bar.
ZENTX designed the industrial-style bar and fabricated it out of an unused shipping container, like we did with Midland’s Larkin Container Bar. Drydock includes a walk-up service window like the Larkin Container Bar, but it also has a small interior space, which is fully accessible thanks to a wheelchair ramp. ZENTX also created custom-made interior lights that cycle through a rainbow of colors.
When it opened, Drydock quickly became a popular summer hangout. Besides the HHM Festival and the State Theatre, its profits have benefitted several other Bay City nonprofits that joined them in operating it.
